What is Laser Engraving? Laser engraving, and laser marking, is the practice of using lasers to engrave or mark an object. A computer is used to drive the movements of the laser head.

Cleon Blake, founder and owner of Blake Engraving, came to Fresno, California in 2004 from Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean West Indies. Cleon was working on a cruise ship where he met Dina in 2002. They were married in 2004, and because of Cleon’s love of the sea and Dina’s love of cruising, they were married on a cruise ship in San Francisco.

In addition to his regular job, Cleon enrolled in the Computer Aided Drafting And Design program at Fresno City College part-time. He learned how to use a Laser Engraving machine in one of his classes and spent a lot to time learning as much as he could from his instructor, Mr. Cerkueira. In 2008 after completing a project in class Cleon showed it to family, friends and co-workers. They were so impressed they inquired how they could get something like that done for themselves. Cleon began assessing the feasibility of actually starting a Laser Engraving business in Fresno, and 8 months later, Blake Engraving was born on June 1, 2009.

Cleon's passion for laser engraving is taking someone's idea, designing it, and making it come to life.
